August 23, 2019

I apologize for the late post Peeps!  The last few weeks have been crazy busy with trying to get in end of the summer bucketlist trips.  I hope you got out and enjoyed last weekend and some of the things I have listed here!

  1.  Tonight the Egyptian Theatre is showing the movie Tombstone.  I think just about everyone in Idaho has seen Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday tame the Arizona mining town of Tombstone in this 1993 favorite.  I know I have seen it more times than is probably healthy! This is a western movie fan favorite starring Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell and it is the movie that brought us that unforgettable line….I’m your huckleberry.  Gives me chills just thinking about it! If you have never seen it on the big screen, I recommend you beat it down to the Egyptian in downtown Boise tonight. Tickets are $11. This is a 21 and older show and they will be serving beer and wine.  Doors open at 6 and it is open seating. They will also be having a costume contest with lots of fun prizes. All you huckleberries better hussle down there, I have a feeling this show will be sold out!

  2. Now keeping with a good vs. evil theme, this weekend the circus is in town.  Not just any circus, but the VS! Circus Showdown! This a high flying variety circus show where good and evil will battle it out in front of your eyes. What’s cool about it (besides the fact it is a circus show) is that the audience gets a chance to vote if good or evil will prevail, and save the damsel, or condemn her to have to stay locked in The Balcony forever.  Talk about your audience participation! These acrobats will be giving an amazing show in the air and on the ground. It is being put on by the Boise Circus Guild, a non-profit full of professional and hobby circus artists. They help to support the circus arts in the Treasure Valley Community and give our kids something unique to witness.  Tickets start at $20 for performances Friday and Saturday nights. The show starts at 8 and its happening right on 8th Street.

  3. This Saturday and Sunday is also the 7th Annual Boise Comic Arts Festival happening at JUMP. Its an all day, all ages, FREE festival featuring exhibits, workshops, internationally recognized comic creators, cosplay contests and more!  This is a great way to encourage collaboration and creativity in your littles and yourself! Be sure to check it out!

*** BucketList Adventure this Week ***

For our adventure this week we will be sticking a little closer to home.  Number 71 on the Realistic Guide to a BucketList Idaho List is take a visit to the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  You can find it just outside of town on Old Penitentary Road. It is one of the first and oldest botanical gardens in Idaho with 15 acres of vibrant colors and Idaho folage.

The Garden promotes horticulture in the Treasure Valley using native and domestic plans adapted to the intermountain region. For 35 years this non-profit has been sharing the beauty of their garden with visitors, creating educational opportunities for children with a children’s garden, sponsoring fun events like the Winter Gardens Aglow and their summer concert series.  It really is a beautiful place to visit and this weekend they are hosting something really fun for the kiddos.

Saturday is Bug Day at the Idaho Botancial Gardens. From 10 to 3 the entire family can learn about the exciting world of bugs. You can earn a certificate in Bugology, purchase edible insects (I don’t know about that!), play bug bingo, participate in an Insect Olympics, catch live bugs and meet a ton of bug experts.  Tickets are $12 and under 3 are FREE.

Its time to get BUGGY and check another item off your BucketList!
