Hello My Friends!
Sorry for the late post, but we had some last minute changes. This is shaping up to be a really fun weekend. I hope you all brave the cold and get out and enjoy all the fun things happening around the valley. Here are some ideas for you...
1. Saturday morning the Cat in the Hat is coming to Boise. He will be at Rediscovered Books on 8th Street in downtown Boise from 11:30 to 1:30. It's a FREE event and a great way to immerse the kiddos in the joys and adventures of reading. Be sure to pick up a new book to add to your library while you are there!
2. For a date idea this Saturday night, its Salsa Night at the Knitting Factory. Beginner lessons start at 9 pm with social dancing starting at 10. Learn to salsa, practice what you learn and watch some amazing salsa dance moves out on the dance floor all night long. It is an 18 and over event. Tickets run $6 to $12. Food is available until 11. Sounds like a great night to get your dance on!
3. So I am a theatre geek so I am super excited to tell you about the Award Winning Broadway Play coming to the Visual Arts Collective. Alley Repertory Theatre presents INDECENT...a play written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paula Vogel. Its a deeply moving story about the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of the Jewish play God of Vengence. INDECENT charts the journey of this ground breaking piece of Jewish literature. The play runs now thru Sunday, March 17th. Tickets are $15 to $20 and it is a 21 and older show. You do not want to miss this event!
4. A fun family event for this weekend happens Saturday night at Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Join fellow builders in constructing the newest structure in the Lego Architecture series, San Francisco. the fun starts at 6 pm and it is a FREE event. Embrace your childhood and build with Legos...or search out that perfect book to immerse yourself in for the evening while watching others build. Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday night with the family.
*** BucketList Adventure this Week ***
Now I have a new addition to the Idaho BucketList to share with you!
One thing that resonates across the history of all the NorthWest is logging. This is seen in the many festivals celebrating Lumberjacks you find throughout Idaho from the Paul Bunyan Festival in St. Marie to Lumberjack Days in Orofino....even at the Basque Lumberjack Competition here in Boise. However, you no longer have to wait for a festival to get your Lumberjack on!!
This week I discovered the Section 37 Axe Room. First of all, it is named Section 37 referring to what loggers call a place of strange and unusual happenings. Its the Lumberjack Twilight Zone!!
So what is this Section 37 Axe Room?
It is the first recreational facility in the Treasure Valley that offers you the unique opportunity to throw axes! What?! You heard me....throw axes!! It's dart throwing with axes! They even have "Axe-perts" to help you. It is completely safe, they provide all the equipment, you can bring your own snacks and drinks, and they have people to help you on your way to expert axemanship. Its $20 a person or they have group rates. They also do private events.
The address is 10535 W. Overland/Phone 208-813-6244/Hours: Mon - Thurs 5 to 10 pm / Fri 5 pm to 12 am / Sat 12 pm to 12 am / Sun 12 to 6 pm.
What a fun and unique way to spend an afternoon, enjoy some family time, or surprise a date. Check out Section 37...you won't be disappointed!
Have a great week! I will talk to you next week with some great plans for St. Patricks Day!
