60. Tour an Idaho Winery

According to the Idaho State Wine Commission there are over 50 wineries in the State of Idaho. It would be neglectful to my audience not to tell you there are dozens within a short driving distance of Boise. I chose to tour Ste. Chapelle because it is semi-near where I live, it made for a great short Saturday outing and I love their wine. Ste. Chapelle was established in 1975. It is a beautiful drive there and then you get to sit on a patio, with an amazing view, and drink great wine! What better way to spend an afternoon!

Good to Know: Ste. Chapelle has many great wines. Wine tasting is available for $5. You get a beautiful wine glass and 5 tastings of your choosing. You are invited to purchase a bottle and they will open it for you to enjoy on their patio or inside their tasting room. They have yummy snacks available for purchase (at reasonable prices and all fresh made) that go along well with wine.
During the summer they host the "Summer Concert Series" out on the patio. You can find the concert listings on their website and they are on Sunday Afternoons. You can bring a blanket and sit out on the lawn or enjoy the patio while listening to some great music.
The tour of the winery is unique. They cover all aspects of how the wine is produced, with interesting tidbits.

Location: Address is 19348 Lowell Rd. in Caldwell. You can reach it from Boise by going down I-84 to Exit 33 and taking Hwy55 out towards Marsing. Hwy55 turns into Sunnyslope and you will see signs when you get close to Lowell Rd. telling you where to turn. It takes about 35 to 45 minutes from Boise. A very nice drive!

Hours: Monday thru Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm. Tours are only available by appointment.
You can also contact them to order wine directly at 208-453-7843.

Special Notes: If you are looking for a way to relax and enjoy a great glass of wine, I suggest you leave the kids at home. It is definitely geared towards a more adult crowd. HOWEVER, if you attend one of the concert series, kids do enjoy the lawn and listening to music. They usually have some pretty good food also. It is a great way for the family to spend the day together.

Ste. Chapelle has a wide variety of wines. One to suit just about every taste. Everyone is very friendly and I even made some new friends while there wine tasting. Who isn't in a good mood tasting wine, right?!

If you head that direction be sure to sample their Moscato and Ice Wine. They are my very favorite. On the sweet side...just like me.
